A historical, educational, and patriotic "lineage" society comprised of male descendants of patriots who supported the cause of American Independence during the years 1774-1783.

Membership is open to any man who can document his ancestry to an American Patriot of the Revolutionary era.  The Patriot need not have been a soldier; Patriots were people (men and women) who gave tangible assistance to the cause of independence.

Duneland Chapter meetings are held at the Porter County Community Foundation, 1401 Calumet Avenue, Valparaiso, IN,  at 10:30 am Central Time on the first Saturday of February, April, June, August, October and December.

Battle of the Dunes - Le Petit Fort - Indiana Dunes State Park

The following historical marker was erected by the DAR in 1957 and rededicated by the INSSAR in 2013. Although a historical marker commemorating the same event is located on Trail Creek in Michigan City, a committee of experts formed in 1957 examined original documents and determined that the probable site of Le Petit Fort was in the state park located where the present marker now stands.
